AICC’s Services in Central California

AICC offers a full range of archaeological services, including archival research, field surveys, and site investigations to evaluate site eligibility for national, state, and local registers. We work to avoid, reduce, or mitigate impacts on prehistoric and historic resources.

In Central California, our work spans the entire project lifecycle—from early feasibility studies to field investigations, data recovery, lab analysis, and reporting. We provide construction monitoring and emergency response for unexpected discoveries.

Archaeological Services
  • Phase I/II/III Surveys: Conduct archaeological surveys to identify, evaluate, and mitigate impacts on cultural resources.

  • Construction Monitoring: Provide on-site oversight during construction activities to ensure compliance with cultural resource regulations.

  • Historic Property Evaluations: Assess the eligibility of historic properties for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

  • Native American Consultation: Facilitate meaningful engagement with Native American tribes to address cultural concerns and meet regulatory requirements.

  • Data Management & GIS Mapping: Employ Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to map and manage archaeological and cultural resource data.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including NEPA, NHPA, CEQA, and NAGPRA.

Additional Services
  • Lithic Analysis: Conduct standard and specialized analyses of stone tools and debitage, including raw material identification, manufacturing techniques, reduction sequences, use-wear patterns, tool identification, rejuvenation processes, and disposal patterns.

  • Palynology Analysis: Examine pollen and spores to reconstruct past environments, identify vegetation changes, and support interpretations of site usage and cultural activities.

  • AICC collaborates with local environmental consulting firms to conduct Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs); and prepare Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Environmental Assessments (EA) in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
